FLASH FLOOD WARNING: Debris flows possible near Burn areas

FLOOD WATCH ALL BURN AREAS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD.
* DEBRIS FLOWS... INCLUDING MUD AND ROCK SLIDES... ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM. MUD SLIDES AND ROCK SLIDES CAN POTENTIALLY TRAP AND KILL PEOPLE CAUGHT IN THEIR PATH.

Update: THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN DIEGO HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... EASTERN ORANGE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA...

Affected Area and Counties or parts of:
THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...TUSTIN FOOTHILLS... TUSTIN...MISSION VIEJO AND THE SANTIAGO BURN AREA ...
LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO SILVERADO CANYON AND FREMONT CANYON. THE TOWNS OF SILVERADO AND MODJESKA... IN ADDITION TO OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS AND BUILDINGS LOCATED ALONG DRAINAGES WITHIN OR BELOW ANY OF THE BURNED BASINS...CAN BE IMPACTED BY DEBRIS FLOWS. DEBRIS FLOWS ISSUING FROM BURNED BASINS CAN IMPACT ROADS TRAVELING UP SILVERADO CREEK...WILLIAMS CANYON...HARDING CANYON AND MODJESKA CREEK...AS WELL AS ANY OTHER ROADS WITHIN THE BURNED AREA... PARTICULARLY WHERE THEY CROSS BURNED DRAINAGES.

* UNTIL 115 PM PST * AT 1000 AM PST... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAINFALL FALLING ACROSS THE EAST CENTRAL PORTIONS OF ORANGE COUNTY. RAINFALL TOTALS HAVE EXCEEDED 2 INCHES AT SANTIAGO PEAK....AND OVER ONE INCH NEAR THE SANTIAGO BURN AREA.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA... * UNTIL 130 PM PST * AT 1027 AM PST HEAVY RAIN WAS MOVING INTO SAN DIEGO COUNTY FROM THE WEST...HEAVY ENOUGH TO CAUSE LOCALIZED FLOODING IN LOW LYING AREAS. IN ADDITION... MINOR DEBRIS FLOWS ARE POSSIBLE IN BURN AREAS THAT HAVE BURNED WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS... SUCH AS THE WITCH CREEK AND POOMACHA BURN AREAS. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS... AND PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN AREAS... HIGHWAYS... STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS... AND PONDING OF WATER ON COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.
Instructions: DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
