Paso Robles-Cal Fire 2,800 acre controlled burn - Nipomo

Cal Fire crews conducting controlled burn east of Nipomo

Reported by: Emily Kiefer

People living in the Five Cities area may see smoke to the east on Saturday, but there is no cause for alarm.
Cal Fire crews, in cooperation with local landowners, will be conducting a 2,800 acre prescribed burn at Alamo Creek, 16 miles east of Nipomo - just north of Twitchell Reservoir on Highway 166.
Nearby residents may see smoke from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. One helicopter, six fire engines, three handcrews and two dozers will be involved in the project.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
