Inciweb: Sayer Fire Update - 10,077 acres 40%

Sayre Wildland Fire - ANF

Summary

The Santa Ana wind condition will continue to weaken today. Weather will continue to be warm and dry with low humidity. Fire activity is minimal except on the northeast perimeter where it is moving down slope into Placerita Canyon. Control lines are in place in Placerita Canyon and currently there is no threat to homes and structures in the area. Unburned vegetation within the fire line will continue to burn and be visible from Highway 14 and the Santa Clarita area.

Fuels Involved - Grass, Brush, Chapparal, Oaks
Fire Behavior - Fire activity is minimal in all areas except on the northeast perimeter where it is slowly creeping down towards Placerita Canyon.
Significant Events - Firefighters will continue to hold the fire line in all areas. Crews continue to strengthen fire lines in Placerita Canyon.
Outlook/Planned Actions - Firefighgters are continuing to hold and improve constructed fireline on the north perimeter along the Whitney Canyon Road. South of Placerita Canyon, firefighters are continuing to construct and burnout fire lines when necessary.
Terrain Difficulty - South of Placerita Canyon the terrain is very steep and inaccessible.
Remarks - Evacuation centers are located at San Fernando and Sylmar High Schools. All roads are open accept for Sand Canyon Road, which is closed (residents okay) at the intersection of Santa Placerita and Sand Canyon.
