I discovered a new CAL FIRE website specifically designed for the Santa Clara Unit - This site is obviously still under construction so watch out for the wet paint!
http://www.calfirescu.org
Great new stuff: The site is new but already has articles and features found nowhere else.
- Chief John Ellis - SCU 1600 - Homepage
- The site has a great Google map of all SCU Unit locations: Link
- The Cal Fire Santa Clara unit operates 12 state fire stations.
- A real fun read is the history of this great CAL FIRE unit. - Link
Picture: 1944 federal transport carrying a 1944 DT bulldozer. Acquired in 1947 and 1948 it was assigned to the Santa Clara Unit.
Picture: A 1930 Ford Model A. Taken at the old Santa Clara Ranger Unit Headquarters Station at Alma.
Suggestions: This site is going to be great but I take the liberty to make a few suggestions:
- Active incident page such used by Riverside CAL FIRE - RRU - Link
- RSS Feed - For News, press releases, incidents - (Make my job easier...)
- Remove the ca.gov logo it is just confusing to have on a .org site
- Base Design on RRU site - Home page does not confuse readers.
- More Pictures of SCU employess such as the great ECC dispatcher "Chopper" at work, and 1613:"Wolf", 1616: "Van Wormer" and of course 1630 : "The Bird" and so on.
- Less links redirecting to CAL FIRE Home page.
- Update much more often than Inciweb or Cal Fire Home page, note: the Chiefs weekly memo has not been updated since early September.
- A link to CAL FIRE NEWS! or a widget installed(Ok I know selfish request...)
hehe.. I was visitor number 231 at 7:30pm.. Very bare boned so far...
