Firefighters have made excellent progress toward containment goals on the large fires in California. Currently, four large fires have burned 33,399 acres.

Weather: Southern California will continue to see low relative humidity with decreasing winds today. Dry conditions will persist across the Southeast.

Sesnon (Los Angles County FD): 13,285 acres at 20 percent contained. This fire is seven miles northeast of Simi Valley. Numerous structures are threatened. Evacuations and road closures are in effect.

Juliet (Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base): 3,980 acres at 75 percent contained. This fire is nine miles northeast of Oceanside. Residences are threatened and evacuations are in effect.

Marek (Angeles National Forest): 4,824 acres at 80 percent contained. This fire is five miles east of San Fernando. Numerous structures are threatened. Evacuations and road closures are in effect.

Chalk (Los Padres National Forest): 11,310 acres at 97 percent contained. This fire is located nine miles north of Gorda.
