California continues to have the most wildland fire activity with 11 fires and 503,065 acres burned. Hot and dry weather conditions continue to increase fire activity throughout the remaining western states.

Nationally, 39 large fires have burned 598,574 acres. Six new large fires were reported: one each in Arkansas, New Mexico, Utah, and Washington; and two in Texas. Four large fires were contained: one each in Colorado, Idaho, Texas, and Utah.

Australia and New Zealand are providing 44 fire specialists and managers to assist with fire suppression operations in California.

Weather Discussion: Gusty winds are predicted today over Wyoming. Hot and dry weather conditions with thunderstorms is predicted over the Rockies, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and southern California. Hot weather will also continue over Texas and the Southern Plains.

Bear Wallow Complex (Klamath National Forest): 11,748 acres at 19 percent contained. This complex of two fires is 13 miles southeast of Happy Camp. Residences are threatened.

Blue 2 (Six Rivers National Forest): 6,852 acres at 60 percent contained. This fire is 12 miles east of Klamath. Cultural and communication sites are threatened. Trails and roads are closed.

Canyon Complex (Plumas National Forest): 37,357 acres at 92 percent contained. This complex of five fires is 16 miles northeast of Paradise. Moderate fire behavior was reported.

Iron and Alps Complex (Shasta-Trinity National Forest): 84,359 acres at 87 percent contained. This complex of three fires is one mile north of Junction City. Residences remain threatened.

Siskiyou Complex (Klamath National Forest): 57,785 acres at 60 percent contained. This complex of two fires is 18 miles southwest of Happy Camp. Cultural sites are threatened.

Yolla Bolly Complex (Mendocino National Forest): 77,918 acres at 50 percent contained. This complex of three fires is 47 miles southwest of Redding. Cultural sites are threatened.
