Craig Fire - wildland fire - 2,001 acres, 90% contained

Evacuations:

8/9 at 6 pm. - News Release

All Evacuation Orders and Road Closures have been rescinded. The following are the effected areas:
• All roads north of Lumpkin Road beginning at Cedar Tree Lane including Mills Ranch
Road, Onyett Road, Kanaka Ranch Road to Island Bar Hill Road are now open.
• Cochise Drive, Blackhawk Trail, Crystal Ranch Road, Toyon Hills Drive and all roads
south of Lumpkin Road, east of Happy Hollow Lane to the end of the pavement are now open.
• The road closure located on Lumpkin Road at Happy Hollow Lane has been lifted except
for the following: Lumpkin Road will remain closed to through “truck” traffic till 8:00
am Monday, August 11, 2008 and will open to all traffic at that time.
• We ask that all residents in the affected area remain vigilant and to monitor the fire area
reporting any significant smokes that may appear. We also ask that all residents in the
affected area to drive slowly and carefully because of heavy fire resource commitment
still in the area.

42 Hand Crews
18 Dozers
14 Watertenders
9 Helicopters

Cost to Date: $7 million
Cooperating Agencies: CAL FIRE / Butte County Fire, Oroville Fire, Chico Fire, OES, USFS, Butte County Sheriff's Office, CDCR
Conditions:

The fire continues to move north and northeast towards the middle fork of the Feather River. Fire crews will continue to improve the containment lines around the fire and are expected to make good progress again today. The south and west sections of the fire are secure.

Officials are encouraging residents to monitor the fire situation in and around their area via local radio, television and other media outlets and CAL FIRE at www.fire.ca.gov and the Butte County web site at www.buttecounty.net. If conditions change, fire and law enforcement officials will make immediate notification. Preservation of life remains the number one priority.

CAL FIRE Incident Command Team #5 has assumed control of the fire.
