Fire Potential Discussion: The potential for large fire will decrease across the inland portions of Southern California today as humidity increases. This moisture is not expected to make it into Central California so the risk for large fire will remain in the moderate range there.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected over the mountains and deserts of Southern California east of the Cajon Pass through Friday.
These thunderstorms will be wet, so little or no fire activity is expected with them. The potential for large fire will be low over the coastal areas through the middle of next week due to the marine layer and onshore flow.
Expect light initial attack through the forecast period.

Weather in the West:
A low pressure system will generate showers and thunderstorms over Montana and Wyoming today. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until Saturday for the cascades of northwest Oregon and south Washington. Temperatures over the Pacific Northwest are expected to be above-average. Oregon and Washington temperatures are expected to rise into the 90s and lower 100s Friday through Sunday. High temperatures are expected to range from the 60s along the northwest California coast to over 100 in the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
