Vegetation Fire, Porterville Area, D-9, (2) fires, 3 mi. up Reservation Rd, 1- fire at Res. Rd at Rd 296, Rapid ROS ( 2 ac ), 2- Fire at Success Valley Rd at Res. Rd , Mod. ROS , Capt 82 at scene req. add. resources , This is the Elk Fire.

11:44am: Elk IC req. 2 add. ATs, Reservation Rd closed both directions, naming the second fire the Rodeo IC, 2 add. dozers, and 2 add. Handcrews, and more overhead, 4113 reports 1st fire moving out, Rapid ROS, 4101 enroute, No structure threat at this time.

11:51am: 2nd fire will be on Tac 3 151.175, there was actually 3 fires but 2 and 3 are burning into 1 fire.

12:00pm: FKU sending dozers 4340, 4341 to the fire

12:06pm: Fresno sending two dozers, five type three now going

12:30pm: FKU sending a code 3 Type 3 ST to the fire

12:48pm: Rodeo IC req. an add. WT, 2- type 1 for structure protection, most resources coming in are being directed to the Rodeo Incident ( WT 15, Eng. 216, 20 )

12:49pm: Elk AA reports Elk fire and the Rodeo fire will burn into 1 fire with in 1 hour

1:03pm: 4101 reports Elk Fire is 600 + ac , no structure threat, Rodeo Fire is 400 + acres 2 structures threatened at this time

1:08pm: Division 4101 reported both fires at 1000 acres no containment advised 1 residential threatened at this point.

1:09pm: Elk AA req. an add. At to replace T 76 parked with mechanical problems

1:30pm: Elk IC reports potential to go to 4000 to 5000 acres

2:25pm: Weather for area is 101 deg. 26% humid. winds from the WNW 10 mph

2:40pm: Burn out operations on-going on the Elk portion

2:50pm: Tankers are on a load and hold at Porterville AB

2:53: SO OPS inquiring the need for a team, per IC negative on a team at this time.
