CA-BTU- Craig IC - 325 acres 35%

CA-BTU- Craig IC update: 1000hrs - 325 acres with 35% containment. - The wildland fire has reached the Middle fork of the Feather River, The fire burned intensely all night with longe range spotting. Potential for Eastward spread today is High.
The Communities of Berry Creek and Feather Falls are threatened.
Potential structure threats if fire cannot be held at Lake Oroville.
Fire behavior: 1 home lost, 40 threatened.
The wildland fire has been observed spotting half mile, The Middle fork of the feather river may not hold the spread. Large Potential for spotting across and into the community of Berry Creek where hundreds of homes are located.
Resource needs include:
Engines,
Crews, &
Copters w/buckets
Outlook: Expected containment on 8/4. Trying to hold fire on the middle fork of Lake Oroville.
Losses/Threats: 1 home lost, 40 threatened. Precautionary evacuations in the Feather Falls area.

New Start in Butte County - Craig IC

IA: 08-03-08 1420hrs -
Location: Craig Access Road - off of Lumpkin Road.
Evacuations: Precautionary evacuations - Blackhawk Trail, Cochise Road, Crystal Ranch Road and Craig Access Rd.
Comms: Butte Fire Local 151.400, White 2 tac net; Butte Tac 12 - 151.4600
Air Attack on 151.295, Victor- 122.850
Structure threats: One structure lost. Three more threatened. Structures threatened 30-50.
Fire behavior: River may not hold the fire; numerous spots 1/4-1/2 mile out from head of
fire with rapid ROS in drainages.
Very rugged terrain, Long range spotting occurring, with some slope transition occurring; Anticipating a move toward Lake Oroville and it will probably be 250-300 acres by then.
Per Air Tac, "spotting is heating up some spotting about 150 yards from main fire; fire is 'pulling in real well but still throwing some spots'".
Resources: Two type 1 copters ordered. Copter 205, Air attack 240, tankers 93 and 94
TGU sent dozer and two crews. Requesting four additional ST of engines for structure protection.

Notes:
8-3 1645hrs - One engine being advised to pull back to the next structure outward due to
spots heating up downhill from him. Next structure is about a quarter mile
out. Lateral spread the wildland fire is considerable already and overall size could 'get quite a
lot bigger'
