Heavy fire activity was reported throughout the country. Six new large fires were reported: one each in California, New Mexico, Washington, Nevada, Louisiana, and Texas. Five large fires were contained: two in Texas and one each in Louisiana, California, and Arizona.

Eight MAFFS C-130 airtankers are supporting California. The aircraft are based at McClellan Airport in Sacramento, California. The Mission Commander is LTC Roger Williams, 145th Air Wing Air National Guard, North Carolina. Aircraft are provided by the 145th Airlift Wing, Charlotte North Carolina, the 302nd Airlift Wing, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the 153rd Airlift Wing from Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Weather Discussion: Sundowner winds are expected to continue over Santa Barbara and Ventura counties in southern California today and possibly tomorrow. Gusty winds are predicted for the Northwest, northern California, and the Great Basin for the next few days.

Alps Complex (Shasta-Trinity National Forest): 3,579 acres at five percent contained. This complex of 13 fires is 20 miles northwest of Junction City. Residences are threatened.

American River Complex (Tahoe National Forest): 6,027 acres at 25 percent contained. This complex of three fires is 11 miles northeast of Foresthill. Power lines, watershed, and residences remain threatened.

Basin Complex (Los Padres National Forest): 61,275 acres at three percent contained. This complex of two fires is five miles southeast of Big Sur. Big Sur and Lucia are threatened and evacuations are in place. Highway 1 remains closed.

NEW Gap (Los Padres National Forest): 6305 acres at five percent contained. This fire is located six miles northwest of Santa Barbara. Residences and powerlines are threatened and evacuation orders are in effect.

BTU Lightning Complex (Butte Unit, Cal Fire): 17,500 acres at 35 percent contained. This complex of 13 fires is in Butte county. Active fire behavior continued. Residences, transmission lines, and structures are threatened. Precautionary evacuations were issued for several communities.

Canyon Complex (Plumas National Forest): 13,164 acres at 61 percent contained. This complex of nine fires is 16 miles northeast of Paradise. Residences and archeological sites are threatened. Highway 70 is closed.

Clover (Sequoia National Forest): 15,262 acres at 70 percent contained. The fire is 32 miles north of Weldon.

Corral (Lassen-Modoc Unit, Cal Fire): 15,000 acres at 25 percent contained. This fire is 23 miles west of Termo. Active fire behavior was reported.

Cub Complex (Lassen National Forest): 5,181 acres at 25 percent contained. This complex of two fires is 16 miles southwest of Chester. Structures and roads remain threatened. Highway 32 is closed so firefighters can perform burnout operations.

Hell's Half Complex (Six Rivers National Forest): 2,876 acres at 40 percent contained. This complex of two fires is eight miles southwest of Burnt Ranch. Structures are threatened.

Humboldt Complex (Humboldt-Del Norte Unit, Cal Fire): 1,275 acres at 65 percent contained. This complex of two fires is in Humboldt county. Minimal fire activity was observed.

Indians (Los Padres National Forest): 81,378 acres at 95 percent contained. This fire is 18 miles west of King City. Active fire behavior was reported. Numerous residences and cultural resources are threatened. Voluntary evacuations are in effect for Arroyo Seco Road area.

Iron Complex (Shasta-Trinity National Forest): 20,704 acres at 25 percent contained. This complex of 27 fires is one mile north of Junction City. Big Bar and Big Flat are threatened. Highway 299 is temporarily closed and restricted traffic flow.

Lime Complex (Shasta-Trinity National Forest): 37,448 acres at 51 percent contained. This complex of 40 fires is 14 miles west of Hayfork. Numerous residences, ranches, and youth camps are threatened. Traffic control is in place on Highway 36.

Mad Complex (Six Rivers National Forest): 2,705 acres at 50 percent contained. This complex of five fires is in Humboldt county. Residences are threatened.

MEU Lightning Complex (Mendocino Unit, Cal Fire): 37,900 acres at 40 percent contained. This complex of 10 fires is in Mendocino county. A utility infrastructure and 1eight communities are threatened.

North Mountain (Stanislaus National Forest): 2,711 acres at 90 percent contained. This fire is seven miles northeast of Groveland.

Oliver (Merced-Mariposa Unit, Cal Fire): 2,789 acres at 80 percent contained. This fire is 12 miles east of Mariposa. Structures and a watershed are threatened. Moderate fire activity was reported.

Piute (Sequoia National Forest): 13,926 acres at five percent contained. This fire is 17 miles northeast of Caliente. Numerous communities are threatened and areas near the fire are closed.

SHU Lightning Complex (Shasta-Trinity Unit, Cal Fire): 53,600 acres at 40 percent contained. This complex of four fires is in Shasta and Trinity counties. Residences and a power generation system remain threatened.

Silver Complex (Sierra National Forest): The complex was contained at 1,161 acres.
Soda Complex (Mendocino National Forest): 5,090 acres at 74 percent contained. This complex of three fires is 15 miles northwest of Upper Lake. Residences are threatened.

Siskiyou Complex (Klamath National Forest): 9,915 acres at 25 percent contained. This complex of three fires is 18 miles southwest of Happy Camp. Campgrounds and residences are threatened.

TGU Lightning Complex (Tehama-Glenn Unit, Cal Fire): 22,907 acres at 85 percent contained. This complex of three fires is in Tehama county. Minimal fire activity was reported.

Yolla Bolly Complex (Mendocino National Forest): 5,387 acres at five percent contained. This complex of nine fires is 24 miles southwest of Chico. Structures remain threatened.
