Narrative:
Chico, CA: Wildland fire broke out east of Chico at the junction of Hwy 32 and Humboldt road and, with winds up to 35mph, took off south-southeast into the Stilson Canyon, toward Doe Mill Ridge, and Honeyrun Road in the Chico Creek canyon.

With a significant fuel load and wind, this fire is moving quickly. Evacuations along Stilson Canyon Road and Honeyrun Road have been accomplished and others are being evacuated as need be.

Butte County Fire is handling most of the resource-related traffic on 151.400; main tactical is White 2 (154.265); Butte County Sheriff Search & Rescue is handling evacuations on 155.940. We'll post other frequencies as they are available.

Latest update we have is from 2:50 pm. Four air tankers, at least one copter, and several dozers on the fire thus far. They have called in the DC-10, so keep your eyes open.

Smoke is being seen and smelt clear over to the Forbestown area, probably from this fire.

A finger has gone up Little Chico Creek Canyon toward Forest Ranch.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
