SF Dep. Chief Demoted For Uniform Violation
The story: Basically Lorrie Kalos-Gunn a high ranking female firefighting politician gets in trouble for wearing uniform for political pictures. And has responded to the press, "I have not been brought up on formal charges, and I don't think it's appropriate to say anything at this time," a tearful Kalos-Gunn told the Chronicle.
But over at FireGeezer blog a large header is forming over a very vicious firestorm in the comments section over the story as presented there...
Example comment: "She has stabbed so many people in the back, she’s slipping on the carnage she created."
Wow! she must of made a few enemies! Any how checkout the carnage or maybe defend her at FireGeezer blog
SF Dep. Chief Demoted For Uniform Violation
BUT THAT WASN’T THE ONLY REASON. SFFD Asst. Deputy Chief Lorrie Kalos-Gunn was both appearing in uniform and using her department cell phone while running for a seat on the Millbrae City Council.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White confirmed that she had ordered Kalos-Gunn downgraded to the rank of battalion chief - with an accompanying $23,000 pay cut - after “losing confidence in the judgment of someone at a high level in the department who is serving as a role model.”
Department sources (say) that Kalos-Gunn, who ran unsuccessfully for the Millbrae City Council in November, was demoted largely for violating a city ethics rule that bans “participating in political activities” while in uniform.
Kalos-Gunn’s equally serious violation was posting the number of her department-issued cell phone on her campaign Web site.
“I don’t think it’s appropriate to say anything at this time,” a tearful Kalos-Gunn told the Chronicle.
