Red flag warning: Inyo, San Bernardino Counties

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON PDT /NOON MST/ TODAY TO 8 PM PDT /8 PM MST/ THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY IN NORTHWEST ARIZONA AND THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY... STRONG SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP OVER THE GREAT BASIN TODAY RESULTING IN GUSTY NORTH WINDS OVER NORTHWEST ARIZONA AND THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY. SUSTAINED WINDS AROUND 20 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED BY NOON WITH GUSTS BETWEEN 35 AND 40 MPH. MEANWHILE...RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES BELOW 10 PERCENT WILL BE QUITE COMMON. CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPROVE QUICKLY THIS EVENING AS WINDS DIMINISH BY 8 PM.

Instruction:
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING OR ARE IMMINENT. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS... LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE EXTREME FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.
