CA-BEU-Esalin IC - Big Sur / Highway 1 Closed

Big Sur coast wildfire - Highway 1 closed in both directions

CA-BEU-Esalin IC
Initial Call: 1300 Hours - Multiple fires along road, possibly caused by vehicle running on a flat tire with rim sparking. 15 acres in Heavy brush, steep southwest drainage.
Potential for 500 acres, 7-10 structures are threatened

Location: Monterey County - Wildfire burning just outside the Los Padres National Forest on private property is located 28 miles west of King City along the Big Sur coast.

Evacuations: Yes - Seven people living in the area have been evacuated. One evacuee was involved in a traffic accident.

Road Closures: The California Highway Patrol has shutdown Highway 1 in both directions from just north of the Esalen Insitute to Dolan Creek in the south.

Resources: Crews from the Forest Service, Cal Fire and the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Department. CalFire has 2 type 3 engines, 4 crews and copter 309.
Resource Orders: 1500 - Another Copter and overhead ordered.
