News: Controlled Burns - Cleveland National Forest

State firefighting crews conducted a vegetation-clearing controlled burn near Pine Valley Friday to reduce wildfire hazards in the area, authorities reported.The operation in the Corte Madera Ranch area of Cleveland National Forest began in the late morning and was expected to conclude about 4 p.m., according to Cal Fire.The prescribed burn will clear about 100 acres of brush and grass, said Roxanne Provaznik, a spokeswoman for the agency. Crews will keep the flames from damaging oaks and other trees in the area, she added.
