CA-LAC Canyon Incident - Major vegetation fire - LA County

Major vegetation fire - Structure threat - Evacuations
Pepperdine students are using pre-planned shelter in place
The Fire has impacted the University area - No structure damage reported
  • The Malibu Presbyterian Church has been lost, along with several structures: http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/front – (video available)
  • Pepperdine students are now being held in the Pepperdine Arena, and nobody can leave due to the threatening fire conditions and road closures.
  • The blaze had consumed at least 250 acres and forced the closure of the Pacific Coast Highway
  • .Several houses on the south side of Malibu Canyon Road, overlooking the Malibu Civic Center, were also burning at 9:15 a.m.
Sizeup: 2nd Alarm Brush Fire w/ST1103 - Brush Fire 4 miles north of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) headed for "The Colony" the Malibu Colony neighborhood threatening structures and forcing the evacuation of Pepperdine University.
