Wildland Firefighter's Wives - Funny story from Wildland Firefighter wives blog

Wildland Firefighter's Wives Blog:

No you can't come home yet!

I am having a small party with friends (Cooking party) this weekend. After my phone conversation with hubby last night, he thinks they may be home later this weekend or early next week. The large fire in Tahoe, is 40% contained. YIKES!! He can't come home on Sunday, cause the house will be full of friends. The funny thing is, another fireman's wife is coming to the party. When I booked the party, I figured well it's right before July 4th, so hubby shouldn't be home. I mean that's suppose to be a high fire danger time, right?? Now don't get me wrong, I love having my husband come home to me anytime, but not Sunday. If they come home, I'm thinking about trying to have him stall at the station, or stop by my parents house. The last thing, these women want to smell is a stinky, sweaty, smoke smelling fireman. So I'm hoping that he's gone through the weekend.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
