Red Hill Prescribed Burning Operation To Take Place Throughout The
Winter
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will conduct debris/slash pile burning
intermittently on weekdays, between January 9, 2006 and May 1, 2006, in and adjacent to, the
community of Pine Cove.
This burning operation is part of the Red Hill Vegetation Management Project (VMP). The
project area is located around the western perimeter of the community of Pine Cove. The Red
Hill VMP is designed to reduce the fuel loadings and modify the fuel arrangement around the
perimeter of Pine Cove, which is part of a pre-fire plan to keep a major fire from moving into the
community. In addition, the fuel-modified zone will better enable the fire department to keep
fires that start within Pine Cove from moving into the surrounding wildlands. The purpose and
concept of the Red Hill VMP is to provide ¿Defensible Space¿. This is the same concept that is
required for homeowners.
CDF fire officials will be conducting"

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
