Milpitas Fire Department names its Employee of the Year


"Frank Martorella, a staff member of the Milpitas Fire Department since 1978, has been named Employee of the Year. He has held the positions of firefighter, engineer, and fire prevention captain (his current assignment).

During his tenure with Milpitas Fire Department, Martorella has been the Local 1699 union secretary and vice president. He was the political action committee chairman from 1995 to 2005. He also enjoyed his roles as Board of Directors member for the firefighter's rodeo, committee member for the firefighters' chili cookoff, and participant in fundraisers for Muscular Dystrophy Association and the American Cancer Society.

Martorella has been married for 23 years to his wife, Valerie, and has two daughters, Melissa and Ashley, in Fremont.

Martorella will be recognized along with Milpitas' 2007 Citizen of the Year and Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year at a banquet March 24 at St. John the Baptist Church's Pavalkis Hall."
