Total Personnel: 2,077 Injuries: 4 Estimated Cost: $11,600,000

Current Situation: Significant progress was made on the fire yesterday and last night. Crews continue to make good progress towards meeting control objectives. Due to aggressive fire suppression efforts, fire activity has diminished, allowing demobilization of excess resources. There are still closures in some areas allowing firefighters to complete firefighting and mop up efforts. Mop up and patrol of the fire line is required 200 feet from the perimeter, so motorists are asked to stay on the lookout for crews.

Damage Assessment: Assessments have begun to determine the damage caused by fire suppression operations and the necessary fire line repair. Areas requiring suppression repair are being identified and repair efforts will begin with specialized teams. The cooperating agencies have been active in restoring power lines, utilities, and roads affected by the fire. In addition, the damage inspection teams will continue to locate damaged structures.

Training: Wildland firefighting requires special skills and the most highly qualified firefighters spend a substantial amount of time mentoring and training new hires and talented firefighters. Many certifications require firefighters to attend classes on their own time and obtain training record sign off from experienced training officers and firefighting specialists. On this fire, a number of trainees have been assigned and are currently being evaluated.

Tuesday June 5th 0800 -  Residents have been allowed back into the communities of Elizabeth Lake and Lake Hughes. Minimal fire growth is expected today.

OSCC Update 06/04 0730 Powerhouse Fire CA-ANF-002297 North west of Green Valley, Los Angeles Co.

Fire spread is expected to be minimal over most of the fire area today.  Fire spotting over the Elizabeth Lake Canyon near Cottonwood Campground still remains a threat.  Structure protection remains in place.  Fuels in the Elizabeth Lake Canyon area have not burned since 1928; therefore the fuels are unusually heavy and are holding heat.  Historical low fuel moisture for this time of year is hampering firefighting efforts.

Minimal fire growth is expected today.
The evacuation order for the Fairmont area of Antelope Acres will be lifted at noon today.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.
