Sheriff's dive teams search this morning for the bodies of a man and son who drowned in Murphy's Pond in Tehama County

Efforts to find the pair were unsuccessful on Saturday, and a search and rescue dive team, aided by a water rescue-cadaver dog, returned to the pond this morning to resume the search efforts

The bodies were found around 10:10 a.m. They have not yet been identified.

Lt. Dave Greer said deputies were called around 3:15 p.m. Sunday to Murphy's Pond after receiving reports of a possible drowning.

Upon their arrival, he said, they learned that the father dove off a boat to rescue his son, who had fallen overboard.

A relative onshore saw the two enter the water and swam to the boat to help, Greer said.

A second child in the boat was rescued, But the father and son, neither of whom were wearing life vests, could not be found.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
