We spent the last few days camped at about 5000' on Boardman Ridge north of Lake Pillsbury. Lots of lightning overnight, and half a dozen plumes of smoke visible by morning; listening on the radio to the Mendocino air/ground conversations they had a dozen fires in Pillsbury Basin at the time. And three jumpers. We saw one helicopter bucket rig hauling water from the lake. We met one fellow at the ranger station at Soda Creek and asked him for news -- he said he'd just landed by the lake coming in from Idaho! Busy.
