CAL FIRE Firefighter Luis Alfonso Magallanes-Molina

It is with great sadness that IAFF Local 2881 announces the passing of CAL FIRE Firefighter Luis Alfonso Magallanes-Molina of the Butte Unit. Luis passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 surrounded by family and friends following his courageous five year battle with cancer. 
He is survived by his wife Maria and their four children Luis, Rosa, Genevieve and Lorena with grandson Jordan. 
Ten years ago Luis applied to CAL FIRE and was hired as a firefighter in the Butte Unit attaining the rank of Firefighter II. Luis was a true firefighter, devoted to his family, friends and the fire service. He spent countless hours training with the newer firefighters to help them become more proficient in their job skills. Many lives were touched by Luis and all have fond memories of such.
Viewing
Viewing will be Friday November 16th, from 5 to 7pm at Newton-Bracewell Funeral Home, 680 Camellia Way, Chico, CA.
Funeral Service
A public Catholic mass and graveside service will be held to celebrate the life of Brother Luis Alfonso Magallanes-Molina.
When: Saturday, November 17, 2012, beginning at 1pm.
Where: Public Mass at St. John’s Catholic Church, 416 Chestnut St., Chico, CA. Followed by Graveside Service at the Chico Cemetery, Mangrove Ave., Chico, CA.
Attire: Class A uniforms requested, or long sleeved work uniforms with a tie.
Apparatus: Due to the lack of available space there will not be a static display.Honor Guard: Public Safety Honor Guard members wishing to participate with the CDF Firefighters Honor Guard detail please contact Jesse White at hgwhite.jesse@gmail.com.
