CA-MCP- Juliet - Wildland fire - 4001 acres, 60% contained

Update: 18:30hrs 10-14 -The Juliet fire on Camp Pendleton 3,985 acres, 60 percent contained 710 firefighters assigned to will continue to extend and reinforce their containment lines during the night.
All of the evacuation orders on Pendleton also were lifted Tuesday except for the San Luis Rey housing area; the evacuation order there remains in effect.
Structure loss: Two greenhouses just outside the base were destroyed in the first stages of the fire on Monday, but no homes have been damaged on or off Camp Pendleton.
No injuries have been reported.
Update: 13:30hrs 10-14 - Authorities have largely lifted evacuation orders for about 1,500 homes threatened by a wildfire at Camp Pendleton, but they say some homes on the base remain off limits. A spokeswoman for the city of Oceanside says the evacuation notice was lifted after authorities determined Tuesday the wildfire was no longer a threat to homes. The remaining orders are expected to be lifted by evening.

Update: 07:30hrs 10-14 - Mandatory evacuation orders have just been lifted for all city of Oceanside residents who were forced to evacuate during the Juliet Fire. About 130 Oceanside residents who took shelter overnight at El Camino High School were informed at 7 a.m. they could return home, according to the American Red Cross. The rescinded evacuation order was also welcome news for other evacuated city residents who sought private shelter.
Update: 07:00hrs 10-14 - Fire is cooling off, winds have died down, very light fuels(Drought effect?), Slop overs caught, containment coming together quickly. All aircraft available today 0700hrs
Update: 03:20hrs 10-14 - Juliet fire had spread to about 3,000 acres with no structural loss or injuries, according to base officials.
Update: 20:00hrs 10-13 - Juliet ( CA-MCP-0026999) 1500 acres, 0% contained. Evacuations are in progress on Camp Pendleton and in residential housing tracts SE of the base in Oceanside . Authorities cleared all residents out of several base housing developments around Vandegrift Boulevard and from more than 1,000 homes in Oceanside's Wilmont Estates neighborhood, near Papagallo Drive, and the Pilgrim Creek district, in the area of Luiseno Park.
The American Red Cross is setting up temporary evacuation centers at Melba Bishop Park and El Camino High School in Oceanside
federal type 2 incident management team has been ordered and is scheduled to take over the fire at 0600 tomorrow. In-briefing will occur at Camp Pendleton , Station One, this evening.
Update: 1600hrs 10-13 -Fire is on Camp Pendleton near Vandergrift Blvd. and currently 75 acres, with imminent threat to structures. Oceanside Police Department has issued a mandatory evacuation for streets near Alexandrine Court and Papagallo Court.
Update: 1500hrs 10-13 - Wildland fire located on Camp Pendleton Marine Base potential for 2000 acres. Fire burning south/southwest toward the City of Oceanside with wide flame front and is in Unified Command with Pendleton and Oceanside City. Second fire on the base MCP- Whiskey Fire is adjacent to and under command of the Juliet Fire.
Juliet ( CA-MCP-0026999) 500 acres, 5% contained. Located on Camp Pendleton Marine Base near Pilgrim Creek Estates, the fire is burning in a south/southwest direction toward the City of Oceanside . Fire is in unified command with Camp Pendleton and the City of Oceanside.

  1. anyone have an update as of 1:16 am Tues Oct. 14? are the fires still headed southwest in oceanside. what's the boundary now? i'm about 4 miles south of the golf course.
