Breaking News: Butte Concow Area Immediate Threat Evacuation 2AM

Butte County Sheriff Department and Search & Rescue are currently working to execute immediate threat evacuations in the entire Concow/Camelot area.

Fires are expected to hit structures within ONE HOUR (appx 0300 hrs).

At least two Task Forces (11 and 12) are staging on Camelot Lane as of 0200 hrs.

It is thought that the combination of a planned back fire and uncooperative canyon winds have caused this reversal of fortune. Regardless, this is quite a stroke of bad luck for the area, whose precautionary evacuation orders were only recently lifted.

We will post more as the news comes in.

  1. If there are windy conditions, why on earth would you be setting backfires?

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
