The suspected point of origin of the blaze is east of the top of Moon Rocks near the 1,750-foot elevation range. Cal Fire officials have said the fire started at the base of several steep drainages, which acted like chimneys, funneling the fire up the Moon Rocks.
Anyone who may recognize the person of interest is asked to call the Cal Fire Arson Hotline at (800) 468-4408.
Ten structures have been confirmed destroyed, two of them homes. Two other structures are being inspected to determine whether they were also homes.
The 520-acre blaze that started Wednesday afternoon was 75 percent contained as of 6 p.m. Saturday, according to Cal Fire Division Chief for Santa Cruz County Steve Woodill. The fire was expected to be 100 percent contained by 6 p.m. Sunday, he said. It was originally expected to be fully contained by Saturday evening.
