Over 300,000 acres have burned in San Diego County and Los Angeles area wildland fires

An estimated 513,000 San Diego County residents are under mandatory evacuation orders as of 11 a.m. today, according to county officials.

Another 12,000 residents have been asked to voluntarily evacuate.

Fire name: Ranch Incident - CA-LAC/ANF- Ranch IC

Evacuations: Evacuations in communities of Halsey, Oak Canyon, Val Verde, and Piru Evacuation Center at Fillmore Veterans Memorial Bldg., 511 Second St., Fillmore. Large Animal Evacuations to Ventura County Fairgrounds, Small animal evacuations to Camarillo Animal Shelter.

Fire name: Witch Fire - CA-MVU-Witch IC - San Diego County

Location: Deer Canyon in Julian area.
WITCH CREEK AREA, EAST OF RAMONA
Current size: 200,000+ acres; zero containment.
WUI: 5,000 residences, 1,500 commercial properties, and 300 outbuildings are currently threatened in the communities of San Diego, Poway, Ramona, Escondido, Lakeside, Valley Center, San Marcos, and Rancho Santa Fe. Unofficial reports are putting it at well over 500 Structures lost in Poway, Rancho Bernardo, 500 homes, 100 commercial properties, and 50 outbuildings have been destroyed. 250 homes, 75 commercial properties and 50 outbuildings have been damaged.
Resources: 1,492 firefighters assigned.
Injuries: There are 20 civilian injuries, Seven firefighters have been injured
casualties are probable.
Fire Behavior: The fire is heading to Carmel Mountain Ranch 4-S Ranch.
Evacuations: 36,000 people evacuated; and 5,000 structures threatened
Notes: A CAL FIRE Incident Command Team is in command of this incident.

Evacuations: 10-21-07 10:33 p.m.
HARRIS FIRE UPDATE: The Sheriff is issuing a mandatory evacuation along Highway 94 for residents of the following communities: Barrett Junction, Engineer Springs, Dulzura and all areas in between.

The evacuation point is Steele Canyon High School 12440 Campo Road in Spring Valley.
All San Diego County Courts will be closed tomorrow, October 22, 2007. Sheriff’s deputies normally assigned to the courts will be working on the fire response effort.

SCHOOL CLOSURES: Jamul-Dulzura Union, Ramona and Poway Unified School Districts are closed tomorrow. In addition, Dehesa Charter School in Escondido will not be open. Palomar Mountain Elementary School in Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District will also be closed Monday.

10-21-07 10:03 p.m. MANDATORY EVACUATION OF WILDCAT CANYON ROAD FROM SAN VINCENTE ROAD TO WILLOW ROAD.

The evacuation points are Poway High School at 15500 Espola Road or Escondido High School at 1535 North Broadway or a temporary shelter point at Santana High School, 9915 North Magnolia.

All schools in the Ramona and Poway Unified School Districts will be closed tomorrow. 10-21-07 9:46 p.m. All schools in Ramona Unified School Districts will be closed Monday.
10-21-07 9:14 p.m. MANDATORY EVACUATION FOR ALL RESIDENTS OF RAMONA. The Sheriff is notifying more than 10,000 households using the Reverse 911 system. The evacuation point is Poway High School at 15500 Espola Road or Escondido High School at 1535 North Broadway.

10-21-07 8:26 p.m. HWY 78 FIRE UPDATE: ALL RESIDENTS IN THE RAMONA AREA SOUTH OF 78, WEST OF PINE SOUTH TO MONTICETO AND THE SAN DIEGO COUNTRY ESTATES ARE URGED TO EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY.

The Sheriff is issuing a mandatory evacuation for Country Estates from Rutherford south and west to San Vincente and Black Canyon Road in Ramona.

The evacuation points are Poway High School, 15500 Espola Road and Escondido High School, 1535 North Broadway.

Fire name: Harris Fire - CA-MVU-HARRIS IC - San Diego County

Location: SE San Diego - Harris Ranch Road and HWY 94 Near Potrero. Google Map
Burning on Harris Ranch Road and both sides of Highway 94 in Portrero in San
Diego County.
Current size: 70,000 acres, five percent contained.
WUI: At least 200 homes have been destroyed in this fire - more than 50 were in Deerhorn
Valley and Honey Springs. 2000 homes and 500 commercial properties are threatened currently.
Evacuations: 3000 people have been evacuated in the Harris Ranch Road and Otay
Lake Road areas. The communities of Chula Vista, San
Diego, San Miguel, Portrero, Barrett Junction, Barett Lake area,
Engineer Springs, Dulzura, Deerhorn Valley, Lawson Valley, Jamul,
Lyons Valley and homes along Millar Ranch Road are threatened.
Resources: 1211 firefighters are assigned under unified command. .
Injuries: There have been 20 civilian injuries and one death as
well as five firefighter injuries on this fire.
Costs: The estimated cost of this fire to date is $2.1 million.

Notes: (1) Fire burns ridge near Steele Canyon HS

Posted @ 8:41 PM Between and 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., the Harris fire crept gradually westward on the ridge above Campo Road near Steele Canyon High School where evacuees are being sheltered.

Occasionally, the fire flared up when it engulfed a home. Authorities did not allow traffic to pass on Campo Road, cutting off access to the shelter at the high school.
Per news conference by SD OES, this one is over 25,000 acres now and confirmed they are in Unified Command with Chula Vista City as fire hit the westward trigger point of Proctor Valley Rd this evening
Southwest powerline is off. CDF Portrero Fire station was burned by. Fire has crossed Highway 94. Running through structures Per Harris OSC.
Citizens are currently sheltered at Fire Station 66.

Location: Malibu Canyon to the beach
Current size: 3500 acres.

Los Angeles County Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman said five single family home and two commercial buildings -- a glass company and Malibu Presbyterian Church -- were destroyed in Malibu.
Nine single family homes and five commercial buildings had been damaged, he said of the blaze that consumed 1,200 acres.

Road Closures: All highways west of Big Bear Dam: 138, 18 and 330.
Hwy 18 to 40th St., 330 bottom (Highland) to top.
All roads going to the mountain communities are closed.
Notes: The fire has an extreme rate of spread. Extreme fire behavior reported, fire making runs at Running Springs and Green Valley Lake.

544 pm Jojoba RV Resort evacuated CHP, Riverside Sheriff Office and Riverside County Fire are working with the resort.An evacuation center is being opened at the Temecula Community Center located at 30875 Rancho Vista Rd and Margarita Rd. Notes: 1 structure destroyed, 2 structures damaged, Portola Hills and Foothill Ranch threatened, Unified Command with City of Orange.

Fire name: Buckweed Fire - CA-LAC-Buckweed Fire

Current size: 30,000+ acres, 25 structures lost, with 3,800 structures threatened in Santa Clarita Area, Fire burning towards Magic Mountain,
Evacuations: MANDATORY evacuations of upper Bouquet Canyon and Vasquez Canyon as well as the San Francisquito Canyon and Copperhill areas, up to Spunky Canyon
Injuries:
3 civilian injuries, (1 major, 2 Minor). 1 minor firefighter injury
Notes: Winds increasing through canyons.
CHECK SANTA CLARITA FIRE UPDATES - A total of 25 structures have been lost at this time due to the fire;
A total of more than 30,000 acres have burned thus far; 25 structures lost,
3,800 structures threatened in Santa Clarita Area, , Historic structures may have also burned.
Fire burning towards Magic Mountain, 3 civilian injuries, (1 major, 2 Minor). 1 minor firefighter injury . winds increasing through canyons.

Fire name: RICE FIRE - CA-MVU- Rice ,
MVU incident, but due to resource drawdown LGA North County FPD is handling the incident.
Location: Area of Rice Canyon Rd/Rainbow Heights along I-15 just south of Riverside County Line.
Current size: @ 8:31 PM 7,500 acres and is 10 percent contained, Structures involved and evacuations in progress. The fire is burning in the Rainbow Glen area.
Resources:CAL FIRE is sending a single resource off of the Pauma fire from overnight to assist under command of NCFPD IC. 250 residences threatened, lack of resources a major problem
Evacuations: Residents in the De Luz Canyon area are evacuated.
Injuries: One firefighter has been hurt.
WUI: Fire officials estimate 206 homes were destroyed along with two commercial properties and 40 outbuildings and 91 vehicles and 20,000 avocado trees.
Notes: The blaze itself seems to have slowed some because of offshore winds from the west. Firefighters are taking advantage of the change in winds to shore up the east side of the fire.
The fire has jumped I-15 and aHwy 395. It is burning into Fallbrook, 1 structure has burned.250 structures are threatened, 1 structure destroyed, I-15 is closed from Rainbow to Hwy 76.
Control Objectives: Firefighters expect full containment on Oct. 28 and full control of the blaze by Nov. 5.

Fire name: Coronado Incident - Coronado Hills (CA-SMC-20070005592)
Location: Brinkerhoff Rd/ Sedgewick Ranch/ Figueroa Mtn Lat: 34° 44´ 3" Long: 120° 0´ 18"
Current size: 300+ acres, 0% containment. The fire is heading to Elfin Forest and Harmony Grove - Multiple structures lost in Discover Hills, San Marcos.

Evacuations: Evacuations in place at this time.

Location: Valencia - Stevenson Ranch area near Santa Clarita - In a canyon north of Stevenson Ranch subdivision, South of Magic Mountain
Fire has jumped Potero Rd.
Initial Sizeup: 1/4 acre
Current size: 50 acres.+ acres, 0% containment.

Fire name: Camacho Fire - CA-CNF-Camacho
Location: Hwy 76 west of Palomar Mountain near the Pala Casino. Highway 76 and Poomacha Road in the La Jolla Indian Reservation
Initial Sizeup: Brush fire moving fast with report of several structures burning.
Current size: 5000 acres, 0% containment.
Notes:
Evacuations: In progress on both sides of Hwy 76 approaching Interstate 15. East of the Rice incident on the other side of I 15.

Fire name: Magic Fire - CA-LAC-Magic
Location: near Valencia in canyon N of Stevenson Ranch subdivision, South of Magic Mountain
fire has jumped Potero Rd.
Cause: Power lines
Initial Sizeup: 1/4 acre
Current Size: 1200 acres.
Notes:
Evacuations:

(16) 10-23 2145 hrs

Fire name: McCoy - CA-CNF-McCoy
Started: October 21
Location: Boulder Creek/Eagle Peak - In the old Cedar Burn from '03 near Eagle Peak.
Lat: 33° 2´ 32" Long: 116° 38´ 33"
Initial Sizeup:
Current Size: 300 acres and is 95 percent contained.
Resources: 49 firefighters are currently on scene.
Notes: Major problems and concerns
No resources available, high winds driving fire in all directions, spotting.
Norcal type 2 team (kaage) ordered
WUI: One residence and one outbuilding have been
destroyed.
Evacuations: none McCoy

(17) 10-23 1330 hrs

Fire name: Poomacha fire - CA-xxx-Poomacha
Location: Fire is located at Highway 76 and Pauma Valley (Thomas Brother Map Page 409 E7). The fire started on the La Jolla Indian Reservation. The fire has spread into Valley Center and Yellow Brick Road areas.
The fire, which has spotted across Highway 76 and is established on the south face of Palomar Mountain at the base of Palomar Mountain
Cause: The fire originated in a structure and spread into the vegetation.
Resources: There are 15 engines, 2 water tenders (60 firefighters).
Initial Sizeup:
Current Size: 20,000 acres and 5% contained.
Injuries: There has been 8 injuries to firefighters. (Unconfirmed)
Notes: The Fire has claimed more than 40 houses and structures at the Rincon and La Jolla reservations, said Jim Fletcher, superintendent of the Bureau of Indian Affairs for Southern California. About 15 houses have burned on the Rincon reservation, and 25 at La Jolla, he said. That fire also burned houses on the Barona reservation.
He would not confirm reports of injuries.
Evacuations: Law Enforcement has started the reverse 911 to initiate evacuations of entire Hwy 76 corridor. A mandatory evacuation notice has been issued for people in the La Jolla Reservation area. People should go to Borrego Springs. People SHOULD NOT go to the Palomar Mountain Evacuation center.

This fire started at 11:49 a.m. October 23 and has
burned 350 acres
