Martis Valley Station Closed - Mold cleanup

Cal Fire closed the Martis Valley Station located on Truckee Tahoe Airport Road this week to investigate the discovery of mold in the building that state firefighters share with their Truckee counterparts.

Personnel moved out Wednesday from the station, State firefighters were ordered not to re-enter the building without protection. Cal Fire would
normally shut down the station at the end of the fire season and this closure coincides with the end of the fire 2007 season.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
