30-Acre Brush Fire In Murrieta Quickly Contained

(CBS) MURRIETA, Calif. A brush fire that broke out Saturday just north of the Riverside-San Diego county line grew to 30 acres before it was contained, a county fire official said.

The fire was reported at 3:57 p.m. at Bundy Canyon and Wright roads, said Cheri Patterson of the Riverside County Fire Department.

About 150 firefighters, two helicopters and 14 engines battled the blaze, Patterson said.

"The forward spread of the fire has been contained," Capt. Fernando Herrera of the Riverside County Fire Department said late this afternoon. "We have surrounded the fire. It's still at 30 acres, but we don't expect it to grow."

No injuries were reported.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
