A RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR THE TULARE AND KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS DUE TO AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF VERY LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES. AREAS IN THIS WARNING INCLUDE SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST... SEQUOIA/KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK AND THE KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS MAINLY EAST OF TEHACHAPI. STRONG HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE REGION IS BRINGING HOT TEMPERATURES AND VERY LOW HUMIDITIES OVER PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA AND KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS. OVERNIGHT RELATIVE HUMIDITIES IN THESE AREAS REMAINED IN THE LOWER TEENS TO MID 20 PERCENT RANGE. HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTED TO DROP BELOW 10 PERCENT FOR PERIODS OF 10 HOURS OR LONGER ACROSS THESE AREAS TODAY. OVERNIGHT HUMIDITY RECOVERY WILL BE POOR AGAIN TONIGHT.
