[EDIS] red flag warning now in effect until 9 pm pdt friday due to locally gusty west winds and low relative humidities
ANTELOPE VALLEY-THE RED FLAG WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT FRIDAY. LOCALLY GUSTY WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 5 MPH ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE ANTELOPE VALLEY IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS TODAY AND FRIDAY. IN ADDITION TO THE STRONG WINDS...THERE WILL BE HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS THROUGH FRIDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB TO BETWEEN 100 AND 110 DEGREES TODAY...WITH ONLY SLIGHTLY COOLER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FRIDAY. IN ADDITION... THERE WILL BE LONG DURATIONS OF LOW HUMIDITIES IN THE SINGLE DIGITS.

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS... LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL. PLEASE ADVISE THE APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS OR FIRE CREWS IN THE FIELD OF THIS RED FLAG WARNING.
