California weather report

WEATHER REPORT

Northern Region

A flat ridge of high pressure and a strong delta breeze overnight will help to produce cooler temperatures today. The ridge will build a little on Sunday and a very weak upper level low pressure area will develop about 300 miles west of the Bay Area. This will bring a slight chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms along the crest of the Sierra Nevada Sunday and Monday.

Central-Southern Region

A high pressure will gradually weaken and move east during the next couple of days resulting in a slow cooling trend across much of the area through at least Sunday or Monday. Despite the anticipated cooler weather, temperatures will still remain above normal across the inland areas for at least the next week. Also, there may still be enough mid level moisture to produce a few isolated dry thunderstorms over the Sierra Crest today, mainly north and east of Yosemite.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
