EDIS - Red flag warning now in effect until 9 pm pdt thursday for relative humidity below 10 percent for up to 15 hours each day

EDIS Red flag warning now in effect until 9 pm pdt thursday for relative humidity below 10 percent for up to 15 hours each day and very poor overnight recovery of humidity:

THE RED FLAG WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT THURSDAY. HUMIDITY WILL BE BELOW 10 PERCENT TODAY. A SLIGHT INCREASE IN HUMIDITY IS EXPECTED DURING THE EVENING HOURS BUT RECOVER OVERNIGHT WILL AGAIN BE POOR. HUMIDITY WILL FALL AGAIN DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS THURSDAY AND REMAIN BELOW 10 PERCENT UNTIL THURSDAY EVENING.

Instruction:
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS... LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.

Area: SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY MOUNTAINS-INCLUDING THE MOUNTAIN TOP AND FRONT COUNTRY RANGER DISTRICTS OF THE SAN BERNARDINO NATIONAL FOREST-RIVERSIDE COUNTY MOUNTAINS-INCLUDING THE SAN JACINTO RANGER DISTRICT OF THE SAN BERNARDINO NATIONAL FOREST-SAN DIEGO COUNTY MOUNTAINS-INCLUDING THE PALOMAR AND DESCANSO RANGER DISTRICTS OF THECLEVELAND NATIONAL FOREST-

How fires get their names

Every year in California thousands of wildfires start throughout the state. In most cases, the dispatch center sending the initial resources to a wildland fire will designate a name for the fire, but the first on scene engine or fire official can also name the incident. Fires are usually named for the area in which they start – a geographical location, local landmark, street, lake, mountain, peak, etc. Quickly naming the fire provides responding fire resources with an additional locater, and allows fire officials to track and prioritize incidents by name. For example during the Southern California Fire Siege of 2003, the largest wildland fire in California history, the Cedar Fire in San Diego County, was named after the Cedar Creek Falls area where it started. The destructive Old Fire, which burned during the same time period in San Bernardino County, was named after the road along which it started - Old Waterman Canyon Road.
