Update: Quick Look at California Wildland Fires

Cal Fire News: California Wildland Fires update
High Fire Danger Red Flags flying today...
Numerous Fires during Red flag conditions in the state of California yesterday the Fire fight continues today.

North Ops had all aircraft committed at 13:00hrs yesterday.
Here is a incomplete summary which will be updated again shortly.

Ophir Fire:
60% contained - 1,600 acres
CA-BTU- Ophir Fire
The fire is currently burning in a an easterly direction.
Wind from the northwest at 25 - 40 mph are causing perimeter control problems.
Fire is roughly a mile and a half from the town of Palermo.
Location: Hwy 70 & Ophir Road; 2 miles south of Oroville - Butte County

Status/Notes: 50% contained - 1,600 acres

Evacuations:
If you received a phone call to evacuate or feel you need to evacuate please do so. .
Road Closures: Powerhouse Hill road is now open to residence.
Lone tree and all side streets are open. Palermo Honcut Hwy is open to through traffic only
The following roads are closed through out the night and will remain evacuated: Palermo Road from Melvina to Hwy 70, Occidental, South Villa, Kennilworth, Williams, Ludlum, South Railroad Ave., Louis, Alice, Daly, Craig, Citrus, Almy, McIntosh, and South Reservoir.
Animals: SPCA on 5th Avenue to be sheltered by the North Valley Animal Disaster Group.
Schools: Palermo & Honcut Schools will be closed today, Wednesday June 11, 2008.

Jackson Fire: 50% contained -
6400 acres

Update: 0:800 6-1108 - mapped at 6400 ac - Some Cal Fire Demob
Update: 20:00 5000+ acres
Update: 17:00 - Slop over Fire has crossed river, 5 engines, dozer, relief AA ordered up - Multiple Type 3 LG strike teams dispatched from Amador County. AA 210 refueling @ Mather, still committed to the incident.
Weather: High wind advisory 25+ gusts 40 through 6 PM, TOMORROW
IA: Mostly in the NON-SRA
Current Sizeup: Six-alarm blaze, Fire around 1000+ acres, Residental Structures Burning, Mobile home and several outbuildings confirmed lost. 100 head of Livestock being evacuated at this time. Several housing communities at risk, structure protection is in place at Excelsior and Calvine rd.
Fire behavor: Fire making runs to the south and west. Attempting to hold head of fire North of Grant Line rd.
Location:Rural eastern Sacramento County - Jackson Hwy and Excelsior
Resources: AEU has 5 engs 2 crews and 1 dozer committed.
Injuries: Injured Sac Metro captain was taken to the burn unit of UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento with second-degree burns to both hands and arms.

La Grange Fire: 90% contained - 1,200 acres
CA-TCU- La Grange IC
Full containment is expected on June 11, 2008.
Location:Hwy 132 and Avenida Lugo; Don Pedro Reservoir - Tuolumne County

Pine Fire: 80% contained - 860 acres
CA-LNU - Pine Fire
The fire was reported near Geysers Road about 10 a.m.
Driven by Extreme heat, high winds, low humidities, the fire quickly spread, growing in size to 120 acres by 15:00 and 700 acres by 17:00, and to 860 acres by 20:30hrs.
Firefighters have it partly under control by late Tuesday night

Increased fire behavior with running and spotting on the south east flank of the fire just north of Memorial Park. fire made big run toward North West, Potential for the fire to continue growing remains high. Multiple Local Gov strike teams ordered for today (XSJ4178C, XNE 4100C, XMY2175C)
