HEAT WATCH - EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM FRIDAY TO 8 PM PDT SUNDAY ACROSS INTERIOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
A warming trend will continue through this coming weekend as high pressure builds over the region. Temperatures in many places will climb above normal by Thursday. The hottest conditions are expected Saturday and Sunday, when temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees above normal for many inland areas. During this time, maximum temperatures for the inland coastal areas will range from 85-99 degrees, while the valleys and the desert will be 100-108 degrees. Several degrees of cooling is possible by Monday, but overall temperatures will remain above normal in most places. An additional few degrees of cooling is expected on Tuesday. The hot conditions will result in an increased risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for the homeless, elderly, infants, outdoor workers and those participating in outdoor activities. The extended period of hot and dry conditions will also bring elevated fire danger.
An excessive heat watch remains in effect from Friday afternoon Through Sunday evening.
Temperature afternoon maximum temperatures will reach 104 to108 degrees.
