Fire deliberately started with liquid accelerant
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - Authorities say a student has died after being burned in an arson fire in a classroom at Orange County's Saddleback College.
The fire broke out at 6:30 a.m. Monday on the third floor of the Business and General Studies Building.
College spokeswoman Jennie McCue tells the Los Angeles Times that firefighters found the 21-year-old male student unconscious.
Orange County Fire Authority spokesman Jon Muir says the student was revived, taken to a trauma center and flown to a burn center.
The student died Monday night. His name hasn't been released.
Arson investigators determined the fire was deliberately started with a liquid accelerant.
Muir says investigators are trying to determine whether the student deliberately or accidently set himself on fire or is a victim of the arson.
