SLU / SLO County Fire - Diablo Canyon Prescribed burn today, tommorow

Diablo Canyon Prescribed burn today, Saturday

What: CAL FIRE SLU unit will be conducting a prescribed burn today and Saturday near the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.

Where: The 450-acre burn will be located on Pacific Gas and Electric property near Point Buchon, just south of Montano de Oro State Park, according to Cal Fire Division Chief Alan Peters. The burn is being conducted as part of Cal Fire’s Vegetation Management Program.

When: A test burn is scheduled to start between 9:30 and 10 a.m. today, and continue throughout the afternoon. If weather conditions are favorable, the burn will continue Saturday.

Who: Four hand crews, five engines, a bulldozer and a helicopter will be involved in the burn.
