  1. Thank you so much for this post-finally something that could tell me what just happened. I was shaken awake to hear everything on my dresser rattling and my bed shaking- oddest sensation of my life! My dad felt it on the other side of the house. We thought a tree or an animal hit the house ha! Really glad to know what really happened-earthquakes in IL how bizarre!

  2. I am located in Rockford, IL, about 40 miles NW of the quake center. I had just sat down at my computer when I heard & felt the quake. It felt like the impact of a large tree falling to the ground, so much so that I put on coat and boots, got a flashlight, and went outside to look around. I was not aware that was an active fault in this part of Illinois.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
