Approximately 150 animals from the Boone Ranch were safely evacuated, this facility houses animals used in movies and commercials. Incident investigation indicates the fire was most likely started by a vehicle stuck off the roadside and muffler/catalytic converter made contact with the ground fuels (grass) starting the fire. Full containment is expected later today, ground resources continue a heavy mop-up patrol and hose removal. This incident is within SRA and directly protected by Los Angeles County Fire.

Paradise Fire CA-ANF-002837 Fire began on the northbound I5 Freeway near Templin Road, Castaic. All nine passengers and the driver got off the bus before it was full engulfed as winds spread the flames and embers. In all, the fire consumed 10-15 acres and is70% contained. Northbound traffic on the 5 was shut down by CHP for a period during peak commuter traffic. The number 3 and 4 lanes remained closed into the early evening on Friday. All lanes have since been reopened. The bus, was operated by Coach America, and was traveling from Torrance to Bakersfield. Passengers were picked up by another bus to continue their trip. ****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
