Original post:
San Bernardino County sheriff’s detectives are investigating a curious traffic accident, in which a 23-year-old man was ejected from his SUV and thrown onto the roof of a house in Apple Valley.

Caleb Butler’s sport utility vehicle rolled over several times, broke through a fence and came to rest in the driveway of the house, said Arden Wiltshire, a department spokesman.

Butler appeared to be the only person in the vehicle and no one else was injured, she said.

“I’ve seen some pretty grisly accidents and traffic collisions in my time, but I’ve never seen anything like this,” Wiltshire said.

Butler was believed to be driving west on Highway 18 when his Kia Sorrento veered off the road. The SUV came to rest on the highway near Flathead and Jicarilla roads.

A local resident reported the man on the roof around 8 a.m. Wednesday, but Wiltshire said it was unclear when the accident occurred. Sheriff’s officials don’t believe any other cars were involved. They are still determining whether speed, drugs or alcohol were involved.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
