Federal and local agencies respond to boat fire, one dead


SAN FRANCISCO- Federal and local agencies responded to a boat fire in Pittsburg Marina at approximately 2 a.m. today.

Coast Guard Station Rio Vista, Contra Costa County Fire Department and Pittsburg Police Department responded to a report of a boat fire in Pittsburg Marina. The Contra Costa County Fire Department reported one person aboard the boat. The person is confirmed dead.

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco has responded by sending representitives of the Incident Management Division to Pittsburg Marina to respond to any pollution.

The Pittsburg Marina Harbormaster has placed boom around the area where the fire occurred. The two vessels affected are being removed from the water. There is no pollution at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
