Wildland fire activity increased in Texas, California, and Montana. Weather conditions may continue to increase fire activity in the next few days.

A total of 41 large fires have burned 530,747 acres. Nine new large fires were reported: one each in Arkansas and Colorado; two each in Texas and California; and three in Montana. Five large fires were contained: one each in Arkansas, Montana, and Utah; and two in Texas.

Australia and New Zealand are providing 44 fire specialists and managers to assist with fire suppression operations in California.

Weather Discussion: Thunderstorms are predicted for northern California and southern Oregon this afternoon and evening. Wetter thunderstorms are expected for southern California, southern Great Basin, Wyoming, and southern Montana. The rest of the western states will be warm and dry.

Bear Wallow Complex (Klamath National Forest): 12,567 acres at 19 percent contained. This complex of two fires is 13 miles southeast of Happy Camp. Residences are threatened.

Blue 2 (Six Rivers National Forest): 6,955 acres at 62 percent contained. This fire is 12 miles east of Klamath. Cultural and communication sites are threatened. Trails and roads are closed.

Canyon Complex (Plumas National Forest): 37,357 acres at 93 percent contained. This complex of five fires is 16 miles northeast of Paradise. Moderate fire behavior was reported.

NEW Craig (Butte Unit, Cal Fire): 1,000 acres at 30 percent contained. This fir eis located 12 miles east of Oroville. Residences are threatened.
Iron and Alps Complex (Shasta-Trinity National Forest): 84,788 acres at 87 percent contained. This complex of three fires is one mile north of Junction City. Residences remain threatened.

Lime Complex (Shasta-Trinity National Forest): 63,263 acres at 95 percent contained. This complex of two fires is 14 miles west of Hayfork.

Rich (Plumas National Forest): 6,517 acres at 53 percent contained. This fire is 20 miles west of Quincy. Communities, communication sites, and power lines are threatened. Traffic is restricted on state highway 70.

NEW Sherwin (Inyo National Forest): 270 acres at zero percent contained. This fire is three miles southeast of Mammoth Lakes. Structures are threatened.
Siskiyou Complex (Klamath National Forest): 57,890 acres at 62 percent contained. This complex of two fires is 18 miles southwest of Happy Camp. Cultural sites are threatened.

Yolla Bolly Complex (Mendocino National Forest): 78,548 acres at 60 percent contained. This complex of three fires is 47 miles southwest of Redding. Cultural sites are threatened.

Dickey Loop (Texas Forest Service) The fire was contained at 117 acres.
Menard (Texas Forest Service): 1,024 acres at 95 percent contained. This fire is located nine miles northeast of Menard.
Taylor Road (Texas Forest Service): 1,312 acres at 85 percent contained. This fire is nine miles north of Rocksprings.
