Northern California - Lightning fire starts - August lightning complex series?

Busy Morning - Northern California received approximately 1200 lightning strikes in the past 24 hours. all new lightning fires are small at this time and being staffed with firefighters.

This series of lightning starts was much milder than the previous lightning complex series, and rain, especially around Lake Berryessa, helped limit the chance of fires there.

Precipitation also followed the lightning as the storm moved north through the Sacramento Valley toward Mount Shasta and northeastern California, but even with the Precipitation new fire starts were reported in several locations around Northern California late Tuesday night and a few may remain to be discovered in the next few days.

The CA-PNF- Garden Fire and the CA-PNF- Bullard Incident (PNF834) One is 2 acres and the second is 4-5 acres in the Bullards bar area and close proximity to each other and are sharing some resources and are using USFS TAC 2.

One new fire near Lake Berryessa was reported on Wednesday morning. the 15-acre brush and heavy timberland fire is north of Lake Berryessa.

Lightning was spotted toward the Mendocino National Forest north of Clear Lake and the Lake County communities of Upper Lake and Clearlake Oaks. The Konocti lookout tower in Lake County, from which lightning was spotted Tuesday night, was staffed because of forecast lightning.

CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit got hit with the SHU reporting at least ten new fires in Burney area east of Redding, mostly confined to small spots. Last one was 40 41.18, 121 40.89.

Another new wildland fire start was located near the community of Brooks in Yolo County, along Highway 116 at County Road 80. The fire was discovered at 11:23 p.m. Tuesday and had not been contained as of 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

And Butte County already hit hard by wildland fires this year is working at least 3 new fires…with one in Butte Meadows and one in the Inskip area. lightning strikes occurred from the Cohasset area into the south end of the county.
