Mom's Appeal: CAL FIRE Uniform and gear stolen

Community Appeal from another list
The following was posted on Norcalfire Scanner list...
[NorCalFire] Fire Fighter Robbed!
""I'm sick as I write this. My son, name removed, is beside himself.
His truck was broken into last night here in Chico, on his FIRST night
off in 30 days. He spent his first day off picking up his new Cal Fire
Sweatshirt he ordered, a nice leatherman, flashlight, etc. All that
plus his CAL FIRE "out of county" bag, lacrosse bag with all his
civilian clothes, plus all his Cal Fire t shirts, and 2 pairs of nomex
uniform pants, all taken. I told him I would ask if anyone had any of
this stuff he could have or borrow until he can buy replacements. He
wears a size 40 in the pants. As you know, those are $89 each, and he
had bought 2 pairs. I feel so bad. I just don't have the means to help
him replace any of it.
God Bless anyone who can help...
Lisa""

  1. That's a sad situation. In 1987 a helitack crew was overrun and burned. One firefighter died. A video of that incident was shot and taken into evidence only to be stolen from the back of a battalion chiefs pick up while parked at a grocery store. Sad, Sad, Sad.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
