City of Stockton - Wildfire extended to structures - Four-alarm fire

STOCKTON - 10:30 - 5 IC - 1 45 hours - Wildland Fire extended to structures -
(UPDATED: 13:45) - Four-alarm fire damages dozens of homes in north Stockton, firefighters investigate arson.

Damages: Five residential homes were totally destroyed.
Thirty single-family homes and a 10-unit condominium complex were damaged, Eight were severely damaged.
Location:
STOCKTON, Interstate 5 - fire ignited along Interstate 5 extended into a residential area. Interstate Highway 5 at the Quail Lakes neighborhood, which sits along Interstate 5 just north of March Lane.
Current Sizeup: Arson suspected - Wind driven grass fire began crowning in adjacent pine trees, Fire extended into a residential area and burned several homes. Stockton Fire Department spokeswoman Mary Ruvalcaba said she did not know how many homes were involved because firefighters were busy battling the flames.

Closures and Evacuations remain in effect: Closed as a potential crime scene
Fire behavior: High wind was spreading embers from trees and brush along the interstate, heavy smoke was slowing traffic.
