Update: Major Incident Information - Piru Canyon fire

Summary: The Ventura County Fire Department is working a brush fire in the Piru Canyon area assisted by units from CalFire, the U.S. Forest Service and Santa Barbara County. About 100 firefighters and support personnel are on scene but, due to the progress being made on the fire, some have started to be released. A wind shift from the west has aided the firefighting efforts.
Location: Holser Canyon Rd. at Piru Canyon Rd.
Start: Responded at 12:22 P.M. May 16, 2008
Evacuations: None at this time.
Road Closures: None at this time, but congestion and closures are possible due to firefighting activities on Piru Canyon Rd.
Notes: The fire is at about 35-acres and expected to remain at about that size. It is currently about 50 percent contained. Full containment is expected by 2200 hrs. (10:00 p.m.) and control by 0600 (6:00 a.m.) Saturday morning. No structures have been damaged and none are threatened at this time. There have been no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Firefighting personnel will be on-scene all night and into tomorrow to bring the fire under full control.

IA: 15 acres per IC. Holser Canyon near Los Angeles County/VNC border.
Location: Fire is north of Hwy 126 in the general area of Piru.
Resources:
CALFIRE, Ventura County, LA County, Santa Barbara County
Fuels: Grass and light brush.
Potential: 400-500 acres
