CA-SCU-Stevens - Vegetation Fire

CDF working an active fire in the Stevens Canyon Open
Space near Cupertino. Reservoir area, near Cupertino/San Jose on the western side of the Santa Cruz Mountains Fire is North of where the Croy Fire was about 4 years ago.
Initial Sizeup: 10 acres Rapid ROS
Location: 15040 Montebello Road, Stevens Creek
Comms: CDF Cmd 4 tone 7, Command 4 is 151.400 - Local SCU 151.4450.
Tac freqs: CDF Tac 2 151.295, 151.160,
Started from downed wires behind a residence.
Structure protection Ops
Reporting 50 ft flame lengths, unsafe for crews.
Two helos and four tankers committed as of about noon.
Air Attack just reported "dangerous rate of spread" and ordered up
Tanker 910.
Updates:
80 acres in brush and timber, no estimate on containment, no structures lost.
50 acres Rapid ROS
Difficult access
No structures threat at this time

Resource orders:
St. Helena just toned out an immediate need strike team for this fire
Tanker 910 (DC-10) eta 40 minutes from SoCal
IC has requested 3 additional dozers and code 3 type 3 engine ST
Additional Resource Request: 2 Helicopters, 4 Crews, 1 Immediate Need Type-3 S/T, 2 Lima S/T, Santa Clara County E-1,7,and Saratoga E-30 staged on Montabello for stucture protection Santa Clara County Fire brush protrols at incident.

  1. Hi, i was just wondering where you found the start location -- do you have access to an internal database? Thanks for posting it.

    I'm a Stevens Creek stream keeper and so a little concerned about the fire. Right now, i'm just trying to collect the facts.

  3. I'm sorry I never answered your post. I was assigned to the fire shortly thereafter and never updated the post.

    Found your question by accident today.

    And I do not remember the answer...
    probably scanner like nullhype said though.
