Sunday is time to change the clocks and smoke alarm batteries

Quantcast

CHANGE YOUR CLOCK – CHANGE YOUR BATTERY!
CALIFORNIA FIRE NEWS wants to remind everyone to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors this weekend when you set your clocks forward on Sun. (March 14) in observance of Daylight Saving Time.
Here’s some more tips for you too:
  • Test smoke detectors once a month
  • Replace batteries in smoke detectors twice a year
  • Don’t disable smoke alarms, even temporarily
  • Vacuum regularly or dust smoke detectors to keep them working properly
  • Replace smoke detectors every 10 years
  • Practice fire drills so everyone in the family knows what to do if the smoke detector goes off.
These simple steps will help ensure that you and your family will have the best chance of surviving if fire should strike.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
