Wildland fire activity was light throughout the states. Three new large fires were reported in Montana. Five large fires were contained: two in California; and one each in Utah, Oregon, and Arizona.

Weather:

Southern California will be a little cooler today. The rest of the West will be warm and dry with scattered thunderstorms. Rain is predicted along the Pacific Northwest coast.

Station (Angeles National Forest): 147,418 acres at 38 percent contained. This fire is four miles north of La Canada. Residences and a major communications facility are threatened. Roads are closed and evacuation orders are in place.

Oak Glen 3 (San Bernardino Unit, Cal Fire): 1,159 acres at 90 percent contained. This fire is four miles north of San Bernardino.

Morris (Angeles National Forest): The fire was contained at 2,168 acres.

Red Rock (Klamath National Forest): 1,364 acres at 95 percent contained. This fire is 15 miles west of Fort Jones. Minimal fire activity was reported.

Tabaguache Creek (Grand Mesa/Uncompahgre/Gunnison National Forest): 935 acres at 70 percent contained. This fire is six miles north of Nucla.

Milepost 281 (Colville Agency, Bureau of Indian Affairs): 310 acres at 95 percent contained. This fire is four miles southwest of Okanogan. Precipitation fell on the fire yesterday.
